Jizya- oppression or beneficial????

While in primary school, I came across the word jizya for the first time in my life. We were taught that great mughal ruler Akbar was tolerant for abolishing jizya and his successor Aurangzeb was less tolerant towards non Muslims for introducing it again. At a stage of my life I did not care whether jizya was something wrong or beneficial. As time progressed my love for knowledge increased and began to ponder over these topics.

Jizya has always been a disputable concept not only in the minds of non Muslims but also among Muslims. The word jizya has always been employed as a weapon to support prejudiced opinions to spread misunderstandings about the Islamic law.

With all due respect this is to inform the whole world, that as it is a misconecption about muslims that muslims are spreading terror all over the world in the way of suicide bombing, which all of the non muslims has named as “JIHAD”, but i would like to make it very clear to all of you that islam is a religion of peace and it teaches the most peace full ways of living, ALLAH is most beloved to his creatures in this world even more then the love of 70 mothers and our beloved prophet HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (S.A.W.) was the most loving & honest person which world has ever had, so how can be their followers could be terrorist.

In his Sahih collection, Imam Bukhari relates the following hadith on the authority of our Master Muadh ibn Jabal (R) that he said:

Allah's reason for making 'darkness' plural while leaving 'light' singular

In Soorat-ul-Baqarah, verse 257, Allah Most High says:

يُخْرِجُهُم مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إلَى النُّورِ
{…To remove them from the darkness into the light.}

The word “the light” النُّورِ (an-Noor) is singular while the word “darkness” الظُّلُمَاتِ (ath-Thulumaat) is plural. Why is that?
